Old Lists from Shattuck, Simpson, Hoffman

A very good friend fo mine sent me about 25 pounds (!!) of old lists for free!

Heck of a friend, will be fun to look them over. At one time I had about half this many, sent to them to unnamed friend (Tom Armstrong) and he was going to have them scanned in about 2 years ago, and he has kept them (bugger it all

)

So, now I have others to look over!

Will be fun this winter! Thanks so much Herman!!!

Here is an interesting story about an old Luger list: I had a Dutch Luger on a table at a gun show some time back. An older gentleman picked it up and examined it thoroughly. He told me he liked the Luger and thought he would buy it, but he had one more thing to do. He went to his car and came back with a Shattuck list that was dated MANY years back. He pointed out to me that Mr.Shattuck had offered this Luger back then, and asked me if I had purchased it from him. My answer was no, that it had come from a small gun show similar to this one. He then stated he would buy it because it was at one time a Shattuck Luger. Now, that is devotion.

Sales lists mostly.

Shattuck had a bi-monthly / quarterly listing

Simpson has a monthly listing

Hoffman had a quarterly I think

Most list condition, if its been restored, reblued, serial number and sometimes unit marks.

Very good ref material.

Mike, I have owned a couple of lugers that I found on the lists while searching for general information...

Thanks! Happy that my guess was correct again. A little bit off-topic, I visited a C&R dealer's store in New York. The store is not big but carries many European and American C&R pistols. Probably because the store space is limited, gunsmith just works behind the counter, "ping, ping, pong, pong" (sound of hammer tapping) fixing things.

"Oh Lord, you don't want to do this in front of your customers if you charge a lot." I thought.
