Default Side Plate Question

I had read somewhere in the past these were numbered on the inside as well with it being numbered one number higher than the outside. I've got a 1938 S/42 here, it's not stamped on the inside, all the numbers match including the mag but not the firing pin. Maybe some of you guys could give me some thoughts on it. These are very specialized type guns.

One other question, the grip plates aren't numbered. The left side has a letter "O" at the top and a "R" in the middle. The right grip is stamped with a "S". Would they still be right for the gun?

Regards and thanks in advance, Steve.

I believe that I see some "shadow images' of the original DWM numbers to the left of the newly stamped #75 (wrong die set). TH

Thanks guys. Between the two posts and the link, I see what the both of you are saying. The side plate I've wondered about for some time. I bought it as a shooter, the price was good and the condition was average or a bit under. I always knew I would upgrade it because of its condition and it being one of the most common S/42's. The pistol has the look of I've seen that, done that combat type piece.

I have some mag's I'll be listing in the mag recovery thread very soon. Hopefully I'll have a mag you're missing and somebody will have one I need.

Thanks, Steve.
