I'd like to pick up a set so I don't risk damaging the original grips on my swiss luger once it gets here.
I found a guy that's selling modern black widow reproduction grips. I'm just wondering if they'll fit on a swiss luger (M1906/29 to be specific) |

I don't think so. The last inch down at the bottom is different. Look at a P.08 grip then a Swiss grip

Not only that, but the Black Widow grips are far too expensive to modify for the swiss gun. I recommend that you get a pair of VOPO bakelite grips and modify them for your Swiss... I know that this has been done successfully. The will run less than $50.00 and the BW grips will be more like $300.00

Nick,
John's suggestion is excellent for 1906-type pistols. The VoPo grips are hollow inside, that means that little modification is needed for the grip safety. I modified a set for my Dutch M11 KNIL version. But.... The 06/29 model has a different grip shape, and even the VoPo ones ain't gonna fit. Postwar Mauser Parabellum grips (1970-1972) should be workable, though, although the grip safety of the Mauser was shorter, so some filing is needed. You will need the Mauser grips for the 29/70 (Swiss 06/29 grip style), not those for the 06/73 (P08 style grip). There are repro Swiss grips out there as well, and since the 06/29 has plastic grips to start with, I wouldn't be too afraid of damaging them. |
