Hello. I am new to this. In cleaning out my grandmothers house we found what I think is a lugar and also a 1911 service pistol. How do I know what the markings are and if they are worth anything. We don't plan on selling them but should I get them insured?
The lugar has this on the top Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorfyn Then on the side there are some numbers 417360 On the other side it has W-n (then what looks like a snowflake) 17 All the numbers on the different parts that I can see match. Any idea how old this gun is? What its worth? Do I try to get it cleaned or just leave it alone? Thanks |

Sounds more like you have a "Brommhandled" Mauser pistol. Is there what appears to be the magazine in FRONT of the trigger?
Any photos available? |

The Luger sounds more like an Austrian accepted C96. Can you determine if it's 9mm or 7.63 Mauser in caliber? Does it look like this?
