dated 1st issue snail drum
Guys........ just bought this beautiful DWM rig from a vet's family. Never seen the light of day from the time he put it away in 1945 till today. The question is, at the base of the snail drum mag that goes into the Luger there is stamped a 2 then a space and then 16. Does this mean the drum was made in 1916 ? All theories welcomed...... myky@ctesc.net

Probably a Weimar provisional unit mark. There were no snail drums made in 1916.
