Got my 1900 shooter!!

Well Tom Beasley was nice enough to sell me a M1900 American Eagle that was refinished so I could have the early shooter that I was looking for. It arrived today and it's even better than I expected - Thanks Tom !! Anyway, it's perfect except that it's probably going to need mainspring work - knew about this from Tom - but couldn't pass it up.

I can't find the topic that listed what Dwight and/or Ron needed for their respective data bases on these but maybe they already have the info. from Tom? If not, here's are some stats - let me know if you need more.

- 1900 AE - eagle is light probably from buffing
- dark blue finish - no straw
- serial number 8115 - all parts seem to match except grips and extractor
- "Germany" on frame - no halo because of refinishing
- no proofs on barrel just matching serial number
- second type of safety lever - Bobba calls it 1st series, 3rd variation?
- 1st series (less wide) grip safety
- Swiss Bern 24 grips - no markings
- Swiss extractor

Hopefully better photos to follow.

At a recent gunshow I bought a box of Luger parts. Among the stuff is a repaired (welded) main spring to a 1900. If it will help you let me know and I'll send it to you.

1900's are nice guns. Looks like a nice shooter that is for sure.

I find to get nice pictures I take 4 or 5 for every one that turns out nice, many times, many more than that.

I appreciate the words of encouragement. Tom Beasley did me a big favor selling me this gun. I have to say that I'm total enamored with the darn thing. So much so that I'm wondering if I need another one or maybe a 1906 or maybe I'll save up for a test-luger or . . . . you probably all know how this tune goes.

In local stores, they asks $42 for a box of 30 Luger.... it's even more expansive than 30 Mauser (thirty something a box).

alvin - I know it's ridiculous - that is why I will be reloading - already acquired a 93g round nose bullet mold for hard cast bullets.

Congrats!!! I too hope soon to have my own 1900. After all, it is "The" original! Reblued or even with some replacement parts, it's still a 1900 and at 108 years old, not many, if any, semi-auto pistol has the Luger's appeal.

Try Cheaperthandirt.com for ammo...

Fiocchi is $21.53 a box of 50-93 grain FMJ or JSP... this ammo may be somewhat underpowered, but at least you can shoot your Luger and have the brass for reloading...

They sell the 93 grain Winchester Super-X for $49.75 a box of 50...

Samco was selling some surplus 7.65mm Luger for a pretty good price. Hopefully they still have it.
