These are definitely submachinegun mags... the case is at least ww2... definitely german in origin... Could be MP38/40 mags... Sorry I can't be more specific... I haven't handled many subguns in the last 30 years.

MYKY, These are NOT MP38-40 MP40's have a 32 round capacity. These appear to be 28. Anyway, they are all wrong for the MP40. Not long enough and too wide.
Could I see a shot from the side? Is this for a handgun cartridge or the German short rifle? Deffinately German as is the leather case. Can't be for the MP44....Hum.... Jerry Burney

definitely they are not MP 38/40 since MP38/40 have 32 rounds mags and of course they are longer and these hold 20 rounds neither they are MP44 because MP44 is curved and longer also. As far as I know ( subject to correction ) The German army didn't have any submachineguns with less than 32 rounds.

The MP38/40 mags, as well as the sten gun mags based on them had a design which fed the double stacked row of rounds to a central feeding position (which didn't work too wel, usually).

I agree that a photo of both sides and the bottom would help. I seen police marked MP28 mags in the past. TH

Maybe a Beretta Modello 38/42. Was a 9mm, came with 20 or 40 round clip, used by the itlians and germans in pretty great numbers after the invasion of france.
