1915 dated S/42...Help I'm New!

I have recently come across an S/42 Luger for sale and have not been able to find any info on this style with the receiver marked 1915. This is the first Luger I have been interested in buying and have looked in the BBGV and online with no luck. It has a serial number of 6277 with a lower case script "b". Any info would be appreciated...Thanks, Mike

welcome to the forum

there is no such thing as a 1915 s/42, as S/42 was the code name for Mauser and they did not make lugers until the 1930's.

It is a DWM or Erfurt that has had a S/42 toggle put onto it.

Edward is right. The incorrect toggle train and the early dated chamber mean this Luger is basically a parts gun, a shooter. So make sure you pay the appropriate price.

Thanks Ed and Tac for all the information....You guys are fast. I will try to upload some of the other pics, they are not very good and I have none of the magazine or the holster. Looks like a (b) to me.
An (l) doesn't have the little tail on the right side, according to the suffix charts in Technical Information.

tac, this is called "discussion", doesn't mean we always agree on something...

you think its a "b" we think its an "l" or something like that. I don't think the wall to china will fall down if we disagree

IMHO, without further photographs for evaluation, is that the grips appear to be genuine, but additional photos, especially of the insides of the grips will tell the story.

After 50 years collecting these damn things still can't "Figger" out some of the suffixes. Now the eyes and mind really slipping. Some of them are truly baffeling. Ed your not alone.

It's a 'b', just like I learned how to write it 'over and over again' as homework first year at school. I quess that's the reason why the suffixes comes naturly to me today.. Perhaps my first teacher was Luger collector
