Default need info

was wondering if anyone knows what a ss oficers hat with the skull and bones goes for. I myself know nothing about hats but have a chance to buy one will find out price tonight. I know this is not a lot of info on the hat but a general price would be helpful.
thanks

Only 10% chance of it being original. Nothing has been reproduced or counterfeited more than "SS" marked stuff. Beware.

thanks it turns out someone offered them 5,000 for it but when they took a closer look turned out to be a repro, it was offered through a estate sale. Some people in my family buy alot from them so I can get some inside info on prices and such so I dont have to get up early and wait in line but it is rare that stuff like this comes up so I was gonna try to see what it was going for and what it was worth. I have a strict policy of buying things cheap at yard and estate sales unless I really know what I am doing, but usaully I am about 5 minutes too late and somebody else has beat me to the good deals. I did find a double barrel .410 for twenty bucks so sometimes you can get lucky.
Thanks Ed

Just a minor point, but when someone starts offering fake antiques asking $5,000, this starts to become of interest to police and prosecutors. They like to send art forgers to jail, I assume SS fakers even more-so.
