This just arrived. It's in pretty good over all condition. The seller assured me that it came from Himmler's private collection.

Obviously a fake. Himmler's gun would be marked Kartoffel-Waffen.

I paid too much! Oh Well, live and learn. Should have bought a book first.

I had one just like it when I was about 7. The Grandma Police confiscated it after I shot my cousin with a Russett 2 or 3 grain hollow point. Never saw it again.

Actually, I hear Himmler was experimenting with a secret spud weapon but that no progress was made when it was discovered he kept eating all the ammunition.
Tons of taters were delivered to his home but not a single spud ever made it to the lab.
If yours looks clean and unfired, it may be the secret Himmler weapon.

Google search yields E. Joseph Cossman Co. from Hollywood, CA in the 1960's. Famous for making ant-farm kits as well.

Wonder if there is a Spud Gun Forum out there somewhere...???...

It was called a spud gun because it shot potatoes. You pressed the barrel into a spud twisting it so a plug of the spud remained in the barrel. squeezing the gun shot the potato plug out. they are still being made but of plastic. pictures to follow. Bob Benson

Check for matching numbers all around. Also check the barrel to see if it went uncleaned after using corrosive spuds.

I think you may still own a spud gun in GB, but you must grow your own potatoes and you may not be in posession of more than one potato at a time. Plus, you must store your spud gun and your potato at least 25 kilometers apart in locked facilities, supervised 24 hours a day by unarmed guards. And you must be prepared to prove the whereabouts of your potato plus account for all missing potato pieces (keeping written records in triplicate) on demand by any government official, including bus drivers. Lastly, you will immediately be sent to prison without possibility of parole if you should at any time SHARPEN your potato...
