As my friend Fred would say, "Holy Smokin' Cats!"
I was bidding on this Reichswehr era postcard photo. Forgot about it, and went back to look. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3903&rd=1&rd=1] At this rate, I can trade my postcard photo collection for a 95% Luger Artillery rig with matching drum magazine and some cash to boot. I saw a WWI Navy PC photo go for over $120 not long ago , but it was exceptional, and I figured it became the subject of a bidding duel rather than an actual value. I wanted it as a mate to this one . ![]()

Cool! Did you get a good clear high res. copy? This one is a "pre-scanner" photo taken with my camera. Did I put this one on the disc?
What's my percentage of the royalties gonna be ? ![]()

yes you did, you sent me 7 or 8 pictures.
your "royalty" is having your name in the book 6 or 8 times. Unless you are willing to underwrite the cost of each book ![]() Ed

Aaron,
I think it's on the care and feeding of your Simson Luger. Either that, or maybe a Cajun cookbook . You know how Tinker is. Always suffering from flights of fancy... Ron

Ron, Actually I have read the book and it's a surprisingly well done work on the Simson pistol as well as other interesting aspects of the Simson manufacturing. It looks like Ed has done a great job. I found a great deal of information I didn't know about Simsons. I believe it will be well recieved by Luger collectors as a work that needed doing and is available no where else.
And yes, I was surprised that Ed had anything to do with it...I was like you and thought he was all hot air . Apparently I was wrong. I am happy to say I believe he will sell one or more of these to any person who is even mildly interested in Lugers. I know I want one! It will make an invaluble reference volume and be very handy if I am ever lucky enough to find a Simson Luger! Jerry Burney

Hi Jerry,
That's great to hear. I never really doubted Ed. I was just busting his chops. And I am looking forward to getting a copy. Ron

Ron, I guess I should start using smiley faces....Eduardo says there's a rumor going around you like to bust everybody's chops! No, I really WAS surprised. Ed has been talking about writing a book about bring back stories or some other BS ever since I met him in my Hospital room in Denver. He came to visit when I had my hip replaced, out of the blue...I thought..what a Walter Mitty! But then he goes and produces something downright scholarly. I gotta say I'm impressed. Having read most of the Luger books out there in English I think this one will rank right up there with the best of em...Unless he changed it after he gave me the pre print copy..Jerry Burney

Those tires on the front of the trucks have me curious. Anyone know why the front hubs were so large? I bought some books from Stills and he threw in a calander with the deal. One of the months has a painted picture with it of a truck simular to these trucks that was shooting a mounted cannon at some advancing cavalry. I gota dig that calander out from someplace. Some of the pictures were from his book and some weren't. All the pictures on his calender were cool, just like his books.
A long time ago, on this forum, someone was thinking about making a calander that was Luger orientated. Probably simular to what Stills did. Was there any follow up with that project? Big Norm |

Hey Guys, I just had an after thought about pictures. The Kaiser had two dachshunds. There is a few pictures of these dogs on railroad platforms and I have seen pictures of other members of German royalty sitting on a fancy chair with their dogs at their feet. I even have a picture of the Kaiser visiting Norway with his two dachshunds freely walking around. Has anyone got a formal picture of the Kaiser with his two dachshunds? I have had dachshunds all my life and now that I am a WW1 Luger collector, it would be cool for me to have a picture like that. Anyone know the names of the Kaisers two dachshunds? I often wondered what would happen if someone tripped over the German emperors dachshund, like I frequently do with mine. Instant firing squad maybe?

Norm,
The speculation is that the flanges on the wheels are so that they can be run on railway tracks. I,m not sure if that is the case or not, but makes sense. Ron
