Military Repairs in the field?
What did the Imperial era forces to to repair Lugers in the field? Was there a standard unit type for this similar to US forces? I understand that officers could easily afford to send back to DMW or Erfurt, but what about the various UBoaters, Stormtruppen, etc. who eventually became authorized to carry the Luger?
Thanks for your help. Tim Houston, TX

Judging from the amour's spare parts kits that one sees occassionally, I suspect that these fellows were primarily parts changers. One also sees a luger come back with "capture papers" with a mismatched top to a bottom from another luger, which they probably made one shooting luger out of two defective ones. Barrel changes and major problems were probably not attempted in the field. TH
