Default S-suffix on byf 41

Gentlemen,

I came across this byf 41 today, I am wondering if anybody knows the meaning of the S after the serial number. Thanks.

Another apparent unsolvable mystery. This pistol is too late for a Simson rework!

Is it just me or does the (S) look like it was stamped upside down?

Steinar,

I didn't check the WaA markings, I just took a picture of the S. The owner also had another byf 41 with a V in the same spot. These guns may have been in the Norwegian army, but I've never heard of them marking Lugers in any way.

It does look like it's upside down, I guess it could be the camera angle.
