Default Question on value: nickel-plated luger

What does nickel plating do to the value (% reduction) of a Luger? The particular gun is essentially the same as the one in the link below: 41 byf, numbers matching, crisp proof marks - all original. I don't have pictures, but would anyone care to speculate on the value? Also does "41" necessarily imply date of manufacture? I have Lugers stamped 41 and 42 with toggles stamped Erfurt and DWM, but I believe at least the Erfurt is older than that.

Many Thanks
Matt

The 41 should be the date. The byf signifies Mauser manufacture (WWII code).

IMHO, nickel plating kills the value of a Luger. I'd rather have the same gun with less than 50% finish than a nice nickel...

if the receiver is stamped 41 or 42, they will NOT be an Erfurt or a DWM. Mauser made those.

The plated gun is 41 byf - the gun in question. It's exactly like the one on AA, but nickeled.

The shooter and project I have are 41/DWM and 42/Erfurt.

Joe,
The plating reduces the gun to a shooter category. Value $400 to $600.
The Lugers you have that are marked 41 & 42 that say DWM and Erfurt are parts guns assembled with Mauser receivers and DWM and Erfurt toggle train parts.
