Default Portrait seen today

Today I saw this "portrait", it had three soldiers faces superimposed onto WW1 German uniforms, they were each carrying a German rifle. Was about 15x20 inches, and very nice, it was titled 10.Comp.1.Karhess Infantrie Regiment Nr.81 Frankfurt 1909-1911 and they had those pike like helmets on

If I collected German rifles, I would have been very tempted (was $295 at an antique shop).

It was an antque shop picture, background scene and three primary guns carrying guns, they faces superimposed, as a mementoweof their time spent. It was the first time i have seen where they added real picutres in it. overall was nice, if you collect that stuff.

Ed, that would be "...1. Kurhess. Infanterie Regiment...".
The abbreviation stands for "kurhessisches", in the State
of Hesse.

Added photos of the face to the print was a very common practice. Sometime it is just one soldier and very often it the same soldier in three different uniforms. Often the size of the head is to small or to large for the body of the soldier. I have several of these. Most have the city on it, but one I have did not have the city but I identified the city by finding a regimental stein with the same unit that named the city. However that German city is now part of France.
