I would like to get some replacement parts for my shooter, like the firing pin and other items that might break during routine shooting. My code 42 1939 has all matching numbers and I would like to keep it that way.
My question is, are all luger parts universal, say from the DWM's to the Mausers? What should I be looking for? I see some parts on E-bay that are the same number.....35 as mine, and thought it would be nice to have replacement parts that match my serial number for when I shoot it. Does this make sense or should I not worry about the number, and just get the shooter parts? thanks, efm |

Luger parts are not universal, although fairly close to specifications...
Unmarked parts are incredibly cheaper, such as on ebay, as folks are always looking trying to make a "shooter" into a collectable piece. Having the same numbered parts do not equal the same manufacturer, and that said, each part is "mostly" the same, although the luger has always been known to be a hand fitted pistol. I have some firing pins that will not fit into some breakblocks, so you might want to pick one up, see if it works, and it if doesn't... Ed

efm, Just because the numbers match, does not mean that a given part is correct to be matching to your luger. Each manufacture used a slightly different die set and Erfurt, Simson and most KH parts will also be inspector marked. Unnumbered REPRO parts are usually cheaper than original parts, but unnumbered commerical or armour's spare marked parts are usually more expensive. Why not use the new cheaper repro parts when shooting, as many members do with mags & grips, and set your matching original FP, extractor, ejector, etc. aside for collector purposes. TH

Thanks for all the information, I guess I knew some of that, I was just thinking it would be nice to have spare parts that fit AND had the same number to match the gun.
I agree, repro parts are probably the way to go, how do I know they will fit my gun if I don't try them first? Where can I get these parts, the ones that may break? thanks, I do appreciate all of excellent advise! efm |

you can get parts from Tom, that is why he posted, as an off-hand remark that he has many parts.
also ebay, then you can look at pictures and bid...

efm, As Ed said, I do stock most luger parts. Even though the new repro parts are the least expensive, they may require more fitting to install. Please inquire at hellerarms@webtv.net for prices. TH
