Decided to make a barrel for 1906 long frame. I want 9mm and I understand that you can not buy. My question is what steel alloy I should look for in 9mm blank so that I can rust blue to match frame? Thank you

Jayhawk,
I have a few 9mm Luger blank bbls that are already chambered and threaded. All you will have to do is extend the shoulder a few mm and contour the outside. These are unfinished Luger bbls that supposedly were "liberated" from a factory in Germany after WWII. If interested, email me @ hhclark@wildblue.net

I don't recall ever seeing in print, the alloy that was used in the production of the Luger pistol... does anyone have a reference?

Hi,
On original plans, it written something like "carbon steel"... It's nearly as europ©an XC38 steel, with 0.38 % carbon. It works good, and blue is same as original. Delcour, Lothar Walther blanks seem to be in this material.

I wonder if there is enough "Meat" on a surplus UZI barrel to turn a Luger barrel out of one?

But many barrels in the USA are made with 12 to 16" for one turn.
Original Luger is 10"...
