Hello,
Thanks in advance for your thoughts. If one were to run across a really nice S/42 '38 Luger (say 97% or so-presumably all matching), with one mag (non-matching) what is the "market price" for it? The one I like is $2,750. Too much? It seems like it, but these really nice ones are hard to find. So, would that price tag be "the market price"? |

I agree with Dwight... that would not be market price... that is the owner's dream... a pipe dream... it is at least $1000 overpriced. ...that gun might be worth that in 10 years but in today's dollars it would be somewhere between $1000 and 1700... I know that is a wide margin, but that is sight unseen.
Get some good clear closeup photos of the gun and the magazines and we can get a little closer to the value.

To give you an idea. You can see on an earlier thread I posted.. I picked up a matching 1937 S/42 rig, with a great holster & belt, 2 mags (one faked to match the gun unfortunetly, but both correct) and a approx 90%+/- gun for the $1500 range. John & Dwight are exactly right.

Hello,
Thought it was a little high, but the pics show everything around the 97% range. Really nice blueing and nice grips (but don't know if grips match, it is a high probability they do). It was just for the gun and one non-matching magazine. Seems this would be a "rig" price tag in all reality. Kind of curious as a super clean '37 gun (same type condition) sold here on the forums for (I think) around the $2,200 mark or so. Just a slight bit of price difference there. |
