What can anybody tell me about a:

"Crown RC"

Proofmark

on a 1918 Erfurt

More than likely the frame was originally rejected for some reason, possibly even cosmetic, and then later accepted to be used.

It was also used as a factory refurbish mark, if the gun had been sent back to the factory for a major repair.
