The Anti-gun lobby are trying to take over a discussion forum, but the local shooters are giving it back in spades.
The problem is the forum administrator appears fairly anti himself and keeps deleting pro gun posts. Check it out for a laugh http://aussieseek.proboards25.com/in...?board=general |

Check the current (April) American Legion magazine. The article titled "Annie, Get Your Gun" subtitle "The United Nations is coming for your gun.
Interesting. I'm glad US Ambassador John Bolton took action at the UN. Looks like the US Supreme Court needs watching. |

Funny thing, two hours after they banned me, they let me back on.
They even let me become a member. I suggested they ban the anti-gun idiot who kept spamming them and causing all the grief. They've apparently decided to resolve the issue by banning me. Anyone else feel like taking over and giving them some stick...... |

Interesting article this month in American Rifleman covering La Pierre's new book on the UN global gun ban attempts. I didn't realize Amnesty International was Anti gun. I worked for a short time for them in Guatamala in the 1980's. One less charity to contribute to.

Just days after the Melbourne Commonwealth Games showed the great success of the Australian shooting team and Prime Minister John Howard himself present gold medals to winning Australian Shooting Team members at the Melbourne International Shooting Club range at Port Melbourne, the anti-gun lobby have shown again that their campaign to ban the private ownership of firearms is not based on concerns about community safety, but on their own pathalogical fear of guns.
A noted anti-gun lobbyist today announced on the Aussie Seek Australian Political Discussion Forum that: "And isnt Australia a better place for it. Thanks to Beccy, Mr Sooris, Mr Howard, Good Americans like the Brady Bunch and common sense. The next thing is to get shooting to be deregistered as an Olympic sport." Copy and Paste this, send it to your politicians, the media, talk-back radio hosts, etc. Let the world see what an unreasonable, paranoid pack of fools make up the anti-gun lobby. |

Yesterday Nebraska Legislators passed a concealed hangun law which allows concealed weapons. Kansas did it last week. I am waiting for my C&R license and will apply for a concealed hangun permit next Jan when the law takes effect.

This year's NRA World Action Pistol Championship is to be held near Sidney in late October. Go figure! This was published in this week's Gun list on page 25.
Also of interest on page 12; Aussie Prime Minister John Howard was quoted " I did not want Australia to go down the American path." "One of the things I don't admire about America is their slavish love of guns. They're evil." I am wondering what exactly he meant by that statement. Is he calling evil, you and I and and any other hunter or collector of firearms; or is he referring to the works of art that we have a "slavish" love of, as "evil." Going to have a family split over this one since my closest sister has lived in Canberra for 30 years and still maintains her US citizenship. I love Australia, but couldn't support an administration that refers to a free society in the manner Mr. Howard has done. Jack Hiles Mesa AZ |

It appears that Mr. Howard is one of the few Australian that has forgotten the sharpe shooting American soldiers that prevented the occupation of his country during WW2 by the Japanese. If this be the "forces of evil" then I guess that I am one. I would suggest that the Australian press full cover the up coming shooting competition in your country. Perhaps the government can hire some of these competitors to ward off any terrorist wishing to convert your population to Islam. TH

If you want to see the value of your Luger or other firearm according to the Australian National Handgun Buyback Program, go here:
http://www.handgunbuyback.gov.au/Default.htm Barrel lengths of less than 120mm (about 4.75 inches) are prohibited - which includes most of our Lugers. |

The NRA's competition is clearly a well thought out plan to show the AU. people that the benefits of gun ownership far outweigh the negatives. What better place to display this than in a country that has banned handgun ownership.
Tom, in reference to your statement about the terrorist taking control, this has already happened and even happened a second time, quite possibly in part to the governments total lack of response to the original Bali bombing. Not that our own administration has nothing to show for its lack of response until the BIG ONE at the World Trade Center. Our administrations turned their backs on the terrorist acts leading up to the WTC attacks and paved the way for that horrific day by their lack of response to all prior acts. The same can be said of the Aussie response to the Bali bombings. Their total lack of response led to the second and possibly more attacks on Australian citizens off-shore and as in the WTC case, on their homeland as well. Jack Hiles Mesa AZ |

I just got this over at AussieSook
Here we go again! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just a note to you all here that Talkback will be Alive tomorrow as Alan Jones on 2GB which has the Biggest radio audience in Australia will do a special show on Guns in light of the proposals for Gun reform as talked about on the AussieSeek Messageboards THE Prime Minister, John Howard, has foreshadowed further restrictions on guns, saying nobody should have firearms unless they are an essential part of their job. Mr Howard stressed his loathing of guns and said he was particularly concerned at the proliferation of pistols since rapid-fire rifles and shotguns were banned. "I think there's still more that can be done on that front; I do. I'd always seize opportunities to do more," he said. Mr Howard said he had no specific plan at this stage regarding pistols but hinted he was prepared to work again with the states on measures. "We just do not need guns," he said. "I don't think Australians need guns unless it's your job or you're in genuine need of protection." Only police, security officers, farmers and legitimate sporting shooters should have them, he said. Mr Howard said there had been a "marked improvement" in gun-related deaths since the states and the Commonwealth combined after Port Arthur to outlaw semi-automatic rifles and shotguns. His claim is supported in a new study, by the University of Sydney academics Simon Chapman and Philip Alpers, which finds the 1996 gun buyback resulted in "remarkable reductions in gun death". The study, which monitored trends from 1979 to 2003, found that while murders, suicides and accidental shootings had been declining in the years before Port Arthur, the rate of decline had accelerated markedly after the gun buyback. From 1979 to 1996, there were an average 617 gun deaths a year. In the seven years since, that average has dropped to 331. Mr Howard was only six weeks into his prime ministership when Martin Bryant killed 35 people at Port Arthur. "It just seemed to me at the time that I had to do something about this," Mr Howard said. "What is the point of holding an office with that authority unless you're prepared to use it? "A few of the hardened experts around said, 'Oh, you can't do this. You won't get them to agree. We've tried this before.' "I said, 'Well, blow it, I'm going to try this.' " Mr Howard said the Australian Institute of Criminology reported firearm murders had fallen from 99 in 1996 to 38 in 2003. All gun-related deaths, including suicides, fell from 521 in 1996 to 299 in 2003. He partly attributed a decline in the suicide rate among young males over the same period to "guns being a bit harder to put your hand on". The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia said any move which targeted legal pistols would fail. "If the Prime Minister is looking at handguns, we would be extremely disturbed because he has absolutely no evidence to warrant it," said Dr Jeanine Baker, the national research co-ordinator for the association. Dr Baker said the 1996 buyback had had no effect because gun deaths were already declining. She said the money spent buying back 700,000 rifles and shotguns should have been spent on mental health and social programs for those most likely to use guns for killing. Dr Baker said further bans on pistols would only hurt sport shooters because the overwhelming majority of pistols used in shootings were illegal. She said less than 0.1 per cent of illegal pistols had been stolen from legitimate, licensed owners. |

AussieSeek and it's sister site Matilda now appear to have gone totally anti
This has been posted elsewhere ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was wrong - AussieSeek and Matilda are "anti" My view on AussieSeek and Matilda has changed, the're anti for sure and I intend telling everybody I can that it's the case. Folks you heard it here first, from me, any shooter, any hunter, any collector who visits AussieSeek or Matilda is assisting the anti-gun lobby to spread their venom. Just look at the way pro-gun people been treated, I got syn byn for calling a fellow who believes his (admittedly tragic) life experiences give him the right to ordain what happens to my lifestyle a pompus arse, yet the anti's can get away with blue bloody murder. Since I've been a member on Aussie Seek and Matilda, I've been called a coward, homophobic and racist, I've been told I am responsible for murder and have been compared to a rapist and a pedophile. No-one got Syn Byn'd for any of this abuse, obviously we "rednecks" are fair game. That half-wit anti-gunner "Cardigan" who posts on both forums, wasn't even syn byn'd for his post asserting all gun owners and their families should be dragged from their homes and shot, those comments were simply deleted AFTER we started complaining. To my knowledge this was the ONLY anti-gun post ever deleted on AussieSeek or Matilda Matilda's latest move "supporting" of lawful gun ownership was to allow the posting of 30 odd "case studies" from The Brady Centre's "Links with Victims" project. Two pro-gun posters who responded to these posts were immediately Syn Byn'd for "shooting at mourners at a funeral" of some such garbage. The idea of putting in an area where pro-gunners might give opposing viewpoint was only accept AFTER two of Matilda's most productive Pro-gun posters were Syn Byn'd. Some other examples of AussieSeek supporting gun ownership includes *The Green's a vehemently anti-gun political party in Australia put up a media release about new legislation, which had been supportde by the Shooter's Party. When a shooter's party media release was put up in response, it was removed., the Greens media release stayed. *The anti's put up a rant about allowing firearms education in schools, an contrary view was put up regarding the success of the Eddie Eagle, have a guess which post was removed and which post stayed, yep the anti's drivel stayed, the pro-gun stuff about Eddie Eagle came down. AussieSeek often complains that any critiism is shooting the messenger, well if the messenger wants to side with the anti's and allow them to get away with the sort of abuse I received, whilst Syn Byning me for lesser crimes so be it. Perhaps the messenger need a shot across the bows. AussieSeek, "you're either with us or against us and we don't take prisoners" you actions have allowed the anti's to spread their venom whilst we have been silenced, so be it, your call. I'll say it again, any shooter, any hunter, any collector who visits AussieSeek or Matilda is assisting the anti-gun lobby to spread their venom. _________________ |
