Default red 9 luger grips

See a lot of red 9 Mod 96s but not many of these, obviously to differentiate from the .30, seems that if in military use the .30s would have been marked sine the military only used 9mms? Says these came off a 1917
DWM artillery.

Confusion at the company level in 1917 when the 9mm C96 was premiered. Apparently orders were to stamp the grips of the new long barrel 9mm Mauser if they were not already branded. The introduction of the 9mm C96 was at the same time as the greatly increased distribution of the LP08 thus the confusion.
