Default LP-08 Barrel replace

Hello All,
I have a LP-08 that is a mismatch in that the upper is all but the sideplate matching and the bottom is/ was maybe a police type(different number unit marked) but mag sear is gone. Anyway the gun had a new after market barrel put on it and I have the original barrel with a tuned front sight on it, and was wondering how to put the old barrel back on. The rear sight is also a tuned sight and I thought it whould be nice to have the old barrel back on as the bore is in great shape. Gun chamber number is 1917 # 2226, DMW on toggle and I know that it is a shooter but I only paid $750.00(pawn shop)

Is it worth it cost wise?

Thank you
Michael

Cost wise is a subjective thing Michael... but I wanted to warn you that unless you are an experienced gunsmith, changing the barrel in the receiver is not for the feint of heart. This is a job for a well qualified Lugersmith. I do not recommend trying this at home without the appropriate and correct tools otherwise serious damage can occur to your receiver and barrel.

There are several folks on the forum who can do this for you at a reasonable price...
