1908 Commercial Grips

Should grips on a 1908 Commercial have the last two digits of the serical number on them? I have a 1900 American Eagle that does and 1906 Commerical Navy that does, but I'm looking at a 1908 Commercial and it does not.

Frankly, I would expect them to, but my own 1908 Commercial has mismatched grips so I cannot speak authoritatively. I will be interested in others' answers.

Do I have all the information on your Lugers--and the one you are looking at--for my database?

Tracy and Dwight, mine (#59055) has the numbers vey lightly stamped inside the grips.

I have '08 commercial # 59439. I believe that the grips on my pistol are original and they are not numbered to the pistol.

Do they have any markings? One of these looks like it has an A.

Tracy, the left grip has something that could be a "3", a "6" or a "9". Hell, it could also be a "Z".

I have a very clean 1908 DWM commercial with excellent grips which are unmarked, but worn in the proper places.

I have a nice 1908 commercial sn 59564 it does not have the numbers on the grips. Only a few nondescript symbols.

Dwight, I just assumed that everyone had seen it on the Gallery. 1908 Commercial It has the lazy Crown N.

On second, and better look at the grips of my 1908 #59055 (less tired, better light), one grip has a "4", the other a "5". It seems the 1908 commercial did NOT have the serials stamped inside.

This may be a little late; I have been trying to catch up on forum post.

I also have a 1908 commercial; Police re-work SN 69157. The grips are not numbered to the gun. The right grip has a D stamped on the inside near the bottom. The left grip has a 1 and an 8 in different locations.

Dwight what information do you need off of this for your survey?

Dwight,

Lazy crown/n on left side of receiver and bottom of the barrel, no Germany, Sear safety and disable magazine safety. Numbered in the commercial style.
