Book by Fred A. Datag ?

I've picked up a copy of his THE LUGER PISTOL revised edition 1966. It is a interesting read and I wonder how have the facts in it held up to the test of time?

Not real well, but should be a part of every Luger collection.

Fred Datig based his book on the best information that was available at the time (just as most conscientious authors would), but more info has been discovered by later authors that clarifies some of his work... especially the books by Jan Still... Go to those books for authority, but the Datig book is a real keeper... There is a lot of research packed between it's covers. I agree with policeluger, that it should be in every Luger enthusiast's reference library...

I have a couple of used copies on hand, if anyone would like one... no dust jacket, but the books are in good condition.

They are $50.00 via paypal, and that includes Priority Mail shipment with delivery confirmation...

I also have a couple of used copies of Kenyon's Lugers at Random for $58.00 and that also includes Priority Mail shipment with delivery confirmation... (one copy has a worn dust jacket and the other doesn't have a dust jacket)

I will bundle one copy of each book in a set for $100.00 since they can be shipped together... Great books for new Luger enthusiasts...

Thanks guys for the info. The book is a good read even if it is a little dated. I would recomend it to all.

Fred's book was the first to really research the luger in depth and his research was the basis of all later books by Jones, Kenyon, Still et al. Thanks Fred. I do still have a few new copies of his later (1990) soft bound Monographs on the Swiss lugers and German military pistols 1904-1930, available @$15 each or both for $25 + $5 S&H.
