Question Holster Identity.....?

Hello all,
Could someone please identify this holster for me.
It belongs to an aquantance on another forum and this is the only photo i have.
I thought maybe it was from the Spanish Civil Guard, but he says it is not.

Many thanks.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Steve.

Steve,
* 1st variation Police Holster.
* Probably made in the mid to late 20's ie; Weimar era.
* Any markings or dates impressed/ink stamped on this example?
Respectfully,
Bob

Steve, It is a police luger holster. I think Bob forgot to add this. Otherwise, he's the man.

its for the German National Guard of the Willobees.

Okay, its just like Bob said, 1st variation Police Holster, I have seen them go from $75-$175, depending on inside condition, stampings on rear etc.

Steve,
It may have a Luftwaffe stamp, but I would bet the farm that it started life as a police holster. The up-strap is the give away. It could have been conscipted and issued to the Luftwaffe at a later date. If the stamp is genuine. Purely my own opinion.

I just looked again. He is showing two entirely different holsters. Which one is he saying is Luftwaffe marked?

Stephan,
* I wouldn't take strike three in the referenced guessing thread without taking a full swing.

* Matt Quote:
"Sorry it's not a police holster either Steve. But that is a common belief umong these."
- A common belief because this holster was originally intended as a Police style holster.
- How it was re-issued does not preclude the specification style under which it was constructed.

* Jan Still, Weimar & Early Nazi Lugers, Pg.159 states the characteristics of an early(Weimar) era police holster as:
- "Most early Weimar police holsters are undated and lack the manufacturer's name."
- "Top flap with a brass stud secured by a strap closure secured to the front body of the holster. ...The earliest holster lacks a loop on the flap to help secure the closure strap and the closure straps are tear shaped at the top."
- "All those dated after 1927 have this securing loop."
- A world recognized collector of P.08 holsters offers his early police rig examples on pg. 113 (Fig. 32c) & Pg.116(Fig. 33c). Most holsters of this style came as Weimar Police rigs.
- The Luft did not exist until about the mid 1930's.

*Bob quote:
" Any markings or dates impressed/ink stamped on this example?"
- Nothing like having half the story!
- As Matt found a Krieghoff rework in this PT.08 and if this holster bears a genuine E/2 acceptance, it is highly likely the holster was once in the Luft inventory. So Matt is correct in saying it is a Luft example; but, cannot definitively say it was not a police holster.

* I believe Ron has the answer:
Ron Quote:
"It may have a Luftwaffe stamp, but I would bet the farm that it started life as a police holster. The up-strap is the give away. It could have been conscipted and issued to the Luftwaffe at a later date. If the stamp is genuine."

Respectfully,
Bob

If it has a luft marking, that is fine, but I know of no specific holsters made for the luftwaffe that was issued holster(s) such as this...

Many thanks for all your input guys, but i seem to have created rather a lot of confusion........Sorry about that.....
The link i posted to the holster showed two diferent holsters, a Luftwaffe issue and the one i am inquiring about.

The one i had three guesses at has no marks on the back, and i bow to your collective knowledge that it is indeed a police issue holster.

Again, many thanks for your help....

Steve.

As long as you are talking about the one "pictured" above, well, unless the luftwaffe bought items being issued to the police, it is a police "style".
