Default Did I miss a good offer?

Attended a Gun Show today.

Checked out a Luger that was very worn. In fact the barrel almost looked oval. Of course the guy said it was a steal at $675

I did see one that looked to be in good condition. Basically a typical Luger with all matching numbers. The guy was asking $1150. I asked for his best price and he asked me what I felt was a good price. I spit out $650. To make a long story short, he wanted about $720 out the door.

Based on what I have been reading, I should be able to get a similar Luger for about $600.

Did I do wrong to walk away? Should I have jumped on it for $720?

If all matching and in good shape, then $720 was probably fair. Everything depends on condition, then condition and finally condition. Originality goes hand in hand, so a "shooter" is $500-$600 and they go up as they are collectable guns, and not just shooters.

The most valuable thing you can have is knowledge. Buy $200-$300 worth of books on Lugers, start with Jan Stills books, read every thing you can here on this forum and Jan's forum, then try to buy another luger.

Knowledge is power and it will save you big bucks later on.

There is a Tri-annual gunshow near me that a guy has been at for the last several shows with a chrome plated luger complete with a bulged barrel. He is asking $700.00 for it. I have thought about offering him $300.00 for it, just because I need some parts to finnish a project. But I do not want him to come over the table at me like he did the last show when he had some of the lugers S.O.G is selling and I mentioned that they are problably russian reworks. He is asking $1000.00 for them.
