Of all the firearms that you have owned in the past and sold or otherwise let go, which one do you most regret not keeping?
For me it was a very nice nickel plated Colt Python .357 Mag. I liked the gun but it had a barrel that was shorter then I prefer. Just wondering. Lon

Mine was a Colt Commander I bought many years ago. Bought it at a gun show for $250 then sold it a year later for $400.. Sure wish I had that one back....

Exactly! Me, too! I sold it for $400 but was able to get it back years later for the same price. I made an oak presentation box for it and gave to my daughter for her 21st birthday. She still has it. (She better!)

I have two. A virtually mint 1896 Bergmann #3, the finest I have ever seen. The other was a Mauser Conehammer that looked unfired.

Don't know others, but I feel gun related hobby needs "activities", either shooting, or buying, or selling (other collectors might also do reloading, gunsmithing, etc). It's hard to sit there reading book only without performing above mentioned activities. So, some guns that should not have come came to home, and some guns that should not have gone went away. In this busy mode, then I have lots of fun.

So far, I setup two rules for myself: (1) Don't sell pre-1899 antique firearms; (2) If it's a really very nice C&R, it should only be sold at its lover's price, no bargain.

Colt Peacemaker that was a Christmas present from my Dad. Sold it to buy an engagement ring. Still have the wife; wish I had the gun too.

Model 12 pigeon grade my gramp bought me before I was born.

He died as I graduated high school and the farm was being sold off.

I left for college and the army and traded it off.
It was unfired I believe .

Prewar S&W Registered Magnum, 1 of 1 shipment to Mexico City with the first ever recorded Smith factory synthetic "ivory" grips, all per Roy Jinks, S&W Historian. Purchased it cheap as a "M-27" for $800, sold it quick for about $1800. I was into cars right then. Oh well.......I still have the 1957 Chevrolet Belair 270 hp.

A correct, all early featured M1A1 Paratrooper carbine. I did ok on it but shudder at what they are going for today.

A 1941 byf with 2 matching mags and holster. Sold while in college for groceries. I got $40 for it. Which is what I paid for it while in the Navy. Bill

After reading the above replies I don't feel nearly so bad as I can easily replace that Colt Python and it had no sentimental value but I had to cringe when I read some of these stories, many can never be replaced and others with great difficulty and a whole lot of luck.

I am the same situation as you. Sold my slam fire RPB Ingram M10 with the full SWAT kit,for the money to buy a set of rare Saab alloy wheels.

Felt Ok on the deal.
Now the the kit is worth huge money and the wheels never got mounted on a car!

I really appreciate this topic. It helped me avoiding another mistake. I just dropped one ad of selling. Quite a few times, I went into selling mode, then one after one was gone, until switching back to buying mode. In the cycle, there were some mistakes. Now I am balanced. No need to sell anything anymore

I was just checking internet sales for a friends (from his wife) Christmas present, he wants a Colt duel cylender 22/22mag revolver.....wow sure glad I never sold mine even if it cost several months saving way back, $150.00, can't do that again.....on the other side of life I will starting the first of the year selling a part of my Wiemar police Luger collection.....moving on.

saiga ak47 about 7 years ago, and a colt hbar ar-15 about 7 years ago, when the guy at the pawn shop gave me the price I wanted( what I paid for it) and didnt haggle at all I should have known right there I sold to low

Since it's still mine, I will post a picture. The gun being "saved" was not a Broomhandle (that's also the reason considering selling it). Probably a gun should be kept is a gun that caused that type of thinking: what if someone really wants it.... Better de-list it then
