Default 1902 carbine loads?

What do the shooting members who have 1902 carbines use for ammo? I have been trying to make one work with PPU .30 and it is close, but seems to lack the energy needed to fully cycle?... And return to battery consistently.. While I'm asking, does any member know what is the weight (compression specs) of the small assist spring in the forearm? I'm getting to know the flat leaved mainsprings quite well, and they are inconsistent and vary greatly...... If any members have any insight, please share?... best, til....lat'r....GT....

The original .30 luger carbine cases were also lacquered black to distinguish them from their normal counter parts.

I reload .30 Luger. My normal reloads would not eject the empty or work the slide to chamber another cartridge. I used Unique as my powder and kept increasing the load past the listed maximum until it functioned 100%. I use 85 gr. PPU bullets.

I shot a couple of clips but thought about the age of the carbine and its value and decided to just look at the beautiful weapon and not risk breaking something.

I won't publish the load I used before wimping out since it could damage someone else's work of art. I wouldn't want to be responsible for such a scenario.

Mine works with PPU - but it was worked to that by a close friend with experimenting with several different flat springs. Mines been reblued, so not as much risk, but I've only shot it a couple of times.
