newbie and an interesting story
Hello, I received an e-mail this weekend from a fellow collector, he had this rather odd holster and wanted some information on it.(IT APPEARS TO BE A NAMBU TO ME, I'd use italics but don't remember how to John )) So no matter what, interesting to see:
...enclosed are photos of a holster that was captured from a german naval officer in holland in late 1944..the luger inside was a m anchor northsea model...also photo of same holster worn by stormtrooper in 1933(history of the ss..time-life books page 80)..perhaps some lugers were issued with this type of holster??? ...the vet who sold me the gun would only say that the notches were a subject too emotional for him to discuss with me... signed fellow lugercollector The links go to my webpage and are small pictures: http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector1.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector2.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector3.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector4.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector5.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector6.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector7.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector8.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector9.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector10.JPG http://users.palouse.com/ttinker/Luger/collector/Lugercollector11.JPG Ed |

Mannlicher Pistol Holster
As I posted last week, this type of holster is being sold by JLD Enterprises
www.jldenter.com for $25.00 and is identified by them as a Mannlicher pistol holster. It's shape certainly appears to be appropriate for use as a Luger holster. Perhaps this was just pressed into service by the person it was captured from... regards, John Sabato http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/mannlicherholster.jpg |

Re: Mannlicher Pistol Holster
That is interesting, I still think it is interesting shape, has that Nambu look, but doesn't, kind of like how the Nambu has that Luger look.

Yes, it has that same look, I actually
was in a rush this morning and was more interested in sharing the pics and just glanced at them.
and hey, I like the Nambu, all those stories about them being worthless are stories. Not on par with 1911's or Luger, but better than some other military guns. More people are killed every year from .22's than from almost every other type of round in the US. And that is probably true, so although that 8 mm might be small, it is still potent to a round in the ... Ed |
