Re: Tulsa Picture 2
Sorry about the compsition of this picture. I never could catch Ralph looking my way when there was a break in the crowd so that I could take a picture.

Photos at Gun Shows
Excellent pics, were they digital? Here in Commyfornia it is verboten to take cameras into gun shows out of fear of the secret police. Did you need special permission?

Re: Photos at Gun Shows
Cameras for the "public" were not allowed.
Ron Woods was lucky enough to get a dealer/vendor badge and I think camaeras were allowed for those folks. Here is my funny story : I entered the show at 8 am on Saturday with about 250 other folks. No one was "bag searched" except for me. With my Dutch, Indonesian, and Italian heritage, I did look "not from here" as the saying goes. I made a joke about being "profiled" and we all lauged about it... They found my camera and asked me to take it to the car or give up my batteries which I did. Did not want to leave a $ 900 camera in my rental car... Does anyone know the Wanamacher policy that allows cameras for dealers/vendors but not the public ? Why are they afraid of the public taking photos ? |

Pete....
I think it has to do with the anti-gun crowd. We had an incident in Houston years ago where a TV reporter came in with her camerman and took pictures of "assualt Weapons" and did an unfavorable report on the daily news. Since then, there have been no cameras allowed at local gun shows.

Re: Photos at Gun Shows
They are digital pictures. Camera is a Fujifilm FinePix 4700 Zoom. I had my camera since I came in with a Vendor's badge. However, I did not abuse the priviledge. I posted the pictures of people and an exhibit that have appeared in national publications before (e.g. Gun Report) and did not post other pictures of private collections or vendors.

Re: Photos at Gun Shows
The media would love to come into our shows to actually catch on tape just how 'Easy it is for kids to buy automatic weapons'..of course what we would probably see is some owner's son arranging his display..but the political activists would use it against us. No cameras is pretty much a standard rule. Can you imagine an upstanding city council member sitting in front of his Luger collection while decrying the street crime in his city? We wouldn't see that as a contradiction but the politically sophisticated could use this as good fodder for a negative campaign. I, for one, would really like to see gun-ownership taken out of the political arena. I know it is unrealistic to hope for that but we are used as a football by both sides. The Democrats use us to unelect some pretty good leaders and the Republicans use us to elect some really poor leaders (only because we can't support someone who won't support sensible gun ownership).

Re: Photos at Gun Shows
Totally in Correct.Policy is BAD. No Security and No Posting of Rules at the Show. Set up day, Almost anyone can walk in and with anything. The Beinfield Shows in Vegas has the Best
and Strongest rules other then the OHIO GUN COLLECTORS.The BEST OF THE SHOW BAR NONE WAS JOHN E DISPLAY. HARD Working guy with OUT standing Lugers. Those who missed the SHOW missed the BEST with John's display. Ron and Pete were the Luckey Ones along with me. |

Re: Tulsa Picture 3
Looks like it was a great show. I usually go to this show at least once a year but the NASCAR races in Fort Worth were the same weekend.
