Luger restoration video
Quite long-winded, but an interesting take on restoring a Mauser P08. Particularly noteworthy is laser-welding the rust pitting.

Good video. If you have never seen a luger completely disassembled or in the "white" metal condition, this is worth watching. It's an hour long, but you can easily slide the viewer forward and backward.
Anyway, he eventually welds up the pitted areas and flies them down. He does a very nice restoration. I've seen a 1916 LP.08 shooter restored, as well. It lovely to behold, but lacked the mystery of an old piece, with all it's nicks, dings, and wear patterns. I remember the effort to ban pistols with short barrels in the 1970s - anything under 4", which caused quite a lot of focus on some very popular pistols. My Colt Python was potentially going to be illegal, which made the resale value jump! Anyway, I think this is a good video to watch. |
