Post 1903 Colt

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but for the sake of a friend's deceased father I'll ask. Were any 1903 Colts (.32) marked US PROPERTY nickle plated? Thanks

RK, I will try to squeeze in some research to tell you for absolutely certain but I collect these and I say NO. Maybe George Patton had one but for General Officer issue they were either blue early on or were parkerized. A nickle or chrome plated combat pistol did not make sense to the Military authorities of that era.

Does your friend have an interest in selling this piece? If so, let me know. Thanks, Jerry Burney

That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure. He does want to send it on, its his mother's gun, she is elderly and wants something easier to use and smaller. With the exception of the flaking plating it appears to be in overall good condition, grips appropriately worn but original, appeared to be operational (was loaded) but its hard to tell in a ten minute examination. I'll see him in the morning- feral swine hunting- fancy way of saying shooting his neighbors damn loose pigs- will see what he wants for it.
