Default Odd Barrel Markings

All,

I’ve described some kinds of trivia as “belly button lint of the mind”, and I think what follows may qualify.

I’ve been diversifying my retirement saving by picking up shooter Lugers whenever the price was right, and have acquired three diverse (pun intended) Lugers with replacement barrels, all three 9 mm, and all three showing considerable bore wear.

And all three replacement barrels with an uncommon, and so far unidentified, barrel marking. Here are pictures:

1916 DWM:

The similar marking on the three replacement barrel suggest (to me) a connection between the three Lugers. Someone, and I don’t recall who, recently posted pictures of a Luger he had recently acquired with the same kind of barrel marking. That’s a total of four guns with pics posted in the last few months.

Let the speculation begin :-)
