luger question
here are some photos of the new luger I picked up, it is a bit strange, and I was told it is a nazi rework of a 1916 the frame is marked 6590 the bbl is 6590 the side plate is 90 the toggle is 90 the take down lever is 97 the bolt is 10, the reciever is 3889. the top is marked dwm 1916 and the side of the reciever is marked with the exact same marks as lugers at random pg 39 diagram 15, the bbl has a DWE on the left side is this a nazi rework. or just a frankinluger. original blue is 75%. the mag is going back it does not work, cant depres it more than half way and it sticks.

Ed, what are you trying to find out? It started as a 1916, then has many parts swapped out.
It is NOT a nazi rework with the swapped out parts, they were swapped out later. If you do not believe this, then that is okay, but my first answer I told you is correct.... Whoever told you it was a rework is correct about the barrel, but afterwards the parts were changed. A rework prior to WW2 would simply NOT have wrong numbers on them. Period... Top right corner, Upload Photo's, upload one at a time, then copy and paste the url into the IMG icon. ed |

Hi Ed,
From your photos, it appears to have begun as a 1916 DWM Artillery. Note the notch machined on the leading edge of the chamber. This a clearance cut for an artillery sight. Since the barrel and frame serial numbers match. I would surmise that it is a Weimar era(1920s) rework which has had the other matching parts replaced at some later date, as Ed states. Due to loss or breakage. Ron

Ed,
With the mismatched parts. It is religated to shooter grade in the, roughly estimated, $500 to $600 range. It would be considered a little more attractive than one of the average VOPOs or Russian dipped and import marked variations. Ron

keep or let go
I paid 729 for it, So it is a little high, I can return it for a refund, and can purchase the 39 shooter all matching on the board for 550, which I am finishing the deal on now. does this sound like a better deal than what I have, it is a shooter, and third reich era, which is what I am interested in, and I can have a project gun in the future.

If you are looking for a shooter/project gun , and prefer WWII era Lugers? Zim's offering sounds like a better deal. Just my opinion....

luger
Well it is in the post, back to charlie justmann, I am a little mad that he sent a bogus mag, non working mag. I cut my thumb on the mag button, and could only pull it not quite half way down, then it would stick, you would have to push it back up. and if you put a round in to it there were no lips it would just shoot out when you pushed up on the mag button. quit a pos. well it is going home, and I have a deal with zimm. the mag on his he says " The mag is not marked, a slight +, I think it has been renumbered. The shell of the mag is e37 and is excellent" does the e37 mean eagle 37? what maker is this?
