Default 1916 DWM Cleaning tools

I have been in the market for a target pistol for about a year, and my father stops out and hands me a 1916 DWM Luger. Pretty exciting!

Thanks for all the information on the Forum. I found the threads on cleaning fluids, and how to oil, and the video on using flax toe on a cleaning rod. I will probably never fire this, but would like to remove the solidified grease, and do a basic cleaning.

I have a cleaning kit from Hoppe's, that has a variety of brushes, phorphorus bronze, nylon, stainless... Is one better/worse for the luger barrel?

Do I dip the brush in the cleaning fluid to clean the barrel?

What are cleaning swabs for?

Thanks,
Kurt
