How to classifiy this Swedish Air Force marking?
I am new to this forum and this is my first try at interacting with the group, so please be tolerant and patient as I will surely make mistakes.
My first question to the forum is how to classify the type of marking I call "Three Crown Swedish Air Force". It's nowhere shown or discussed in books, except Charles Kenyon, The Multinational Pistol, pages 120-121. I have two guns in my collection with that mark, one a Mauser byf and the other a DMW. I am trying to attach pictures but probably not successfully. I would welcome the comments of the experienced members in the forum on the subject. I am personally inclined that they come from a small group of pilots or squadron that privately purchased the pistols in Sweden and had them marked with the symbol of the Swedish Air Force (the three crowns) plus the F 8 to denote their base or squadron. I do not believe they are an official Swedish Contract since they are both in Mausers and DWF issues. Last edited by jpamselle; 04-28-2024 at 12:18 PM. Reason: add photos |
