lettering + coloring
Are the numbers and crests on lugers supposed to he white? Or dark?
I am scouting mid level lugers, ones that are in great condition but ones that I might actually take to the range. I posted a pic of one last month..a vopo that had the crests obliterated. Ill have to get a pic of the bore for you foljs expert perusal its not great, bit im not sure how much deterioration is acceptable.. i know that a smooth barrel is no go, andva nice shiny is good but in between I'm sketchy. Another is a byf but the receiver is brown, the rest is black, looks off to say the least. Last is a nice model with only the toggle pin out of match, but it's 400 more than the other two ...if they are even still available. I missed that nice byf in the for sale section. My luck/timing is always off As suggested I'm studying walters, kenyon and Datig refs. Last edited by Brien; 04-08-2016 at 12:35 AM. Reason: typos |

Actually no I don't think so, some people paint them mainly for aesthetical reasons, the only one in the white is "gesichert". Regards.

It would help if you put a price range on your "mid range" statement.
Sounds to me like you "need" at least two lugers! As Sergio said, only the Gesichert is painted from the factory; though there may always be obscure exceptions.
