I have seen these for sale on ebay, but have never seen a tool marked with the byf stamp. I have read that these are fakes, but don't have anything to backup the statement. The price on ebay is usually a little higher than a normal repro tool.
I hope others have information on this as it would be interesting to find out the truth about these tools. Marvin |

I just bought one on ebay for $9.95 with the assumption that it is a bogus marking. I have not seen this marking on any of the tools shown in any of the books, nor seen reference to this marking on any loading tool.

This loading tool is what is commonly termed a "fantasy piece." Tools manufactured during this period were marked E/655. Possibly some of the late 1941 tools were marked E/135, and some were not marked at all. But byf 41 markings are merely products of an inventive mind.

For what's it's worth, I agree with the FANTACY PIECE Theory. The inspection stamps never included the Ordnance Code, only the inspection code.
