P38 Carbine Pics

There were pics of a P38 carbine (with buttstock) posted here a year or so ago; does anyone remember what the post was???

It's not the thread that junglejim started about getting his money back; it was another and it had a pic showing the welded stock lug on the P38 frame. I posted a comment about it but now I can't find the thread.

I *think* it was described as a Martz creation, but no amount of Advanced Searches (with my username) turns anything up.

It was not a Lugerman carbine either.

Anyone???

Rich, the P-38 carbine photos were indeed of a John Martz creation. I remember the gun magazine articles back when he did it...

Search for his name instead of your own and you may find the thread easier...

No luck. They may have been links to an offsite storage area, that has since changed/upgraded their site and the links have gone bad.

Just more proof that you should attach your pics to your post and not link them offsite.

I know the lug was welded on, but I don't recall how he modified the mainspring strut anchor...

None of the auction sites show the insides, which is what interests me. I thought it was junglejim, as he has a Martz P38 carbine, but I can't find any of his posts with inside pics of his P38 carbine. just the two outside pics in his How Do-I-Get-My-Money-Back thread...

Harry Greer had a P38 carbine briefly, but Harry didn't post inside [grip frame] pics.

In this case I would make an appeal both here, and on our sister forum, P38forum.com for anyone who has photographs of the insides of the Martz P-38 carbine stock lug parts to post them for all to see...

You might also look for the archives of GUNS magazine, and possibly Guns & Ammo magazine one of which did the full article on his conversions. Those articles may be online in their archives...

Eric Bruning (Cirelaw) captures lots of photographs for his own reference and may have the photos you are looking for... How about it Eric?

I found the thread(s) saved to my other PC, from 7/20/2014. Most were from a "Page 297.htm" site (I didn't save the URL

) and a couple were of the carbine that Greer bought & sold, one from an auction site.

In any case, here they are, attached rather than linked, for posterity...

And I think I see how Martz modified/fabricated the new mainspring strut anchor...

(It's shown as the "magazine catch" in breakdown pics but it also holds the hammer strut and mainspring in place)...

Edit: Interesting that one of the carbines uses a Mauser C96 stock, and the closeups of the gripframe show the 'straight' lug (rather than the curved Luger lug) that Martz welded on...Which necessitated the 'magazine catch' modification...

I have over 120 CDs of archived stuff, dating back to my first CD burner, in 1996 I think...Indexed with a simple DOS command...But a couple months back, I transferred them to 7 DVDs, and couldn't index them with the DOS command...

So I have to 'Search" each DVD...

That's IF I can remember what names I saved them by...

The stock attachment is reminiscent of stock lug on the Man From U.N.C.L.E. gun that was P-38 based. Here is a URL where you can see more. The stock attachment for those guns was actually part of the grips which were solid and made of aluminum. See the linked photos below:
