Larry, The "X" on your receiver is a typical Russian surplus mark. The crown and shield on the lug are quite unusual as I've never seen these before, but could have been added by another country post original production. TH

Hi,
This gun is indeed from ex-Eastern-European surplus, imported by Kett and proofed in Western-Germany. In Koln, to be precise. IJ are the 1989 proof date. My VoPo was proofed by the same proof house, in the same year, imported by kett as well. |

Hi,
Kett is (or was, don't know exactly) a German firm that imports and resells surplus handguns. German law required proofing for guns outside the CIP (community of countries which accept each others proofs). German law also required the name of the importer to be struck on the gun. Value would be somewhere between shooter and collector grade, depending on state and originality. I'd ask some of our more commercially active members to write down a number. |

Do you mean "Kettner" ?
They went out of business and are now back under new ownership - the group which owns Blaser, Sauer & Sohn (formerly SigSauer). Their headquarters is located in Cologne. www.kettner.de |

Hi,
The name Kettner crossed my mind, but I'm unsure whether they'd use 'Kett' as a logo. Some inquiries about another Kett came up blank. |
