Is this priced too high?
http://www.gunbroker.com/item/669365570
I've been bidding on this guy for the last few days but it has now soared over $2000. Shall I cut my losses and look for another? This one seems quite nice |

If its as nice as it looks, the price for a matching mag, 1915 DWM doesn't surprise me.
I personally wouldn't want to go much higher, but the nicer and original something gets, the more they jump in price IMHO |

Take a look at what online dealers are selling similar pistols for, it may help you decide.

I don't see halos on the barrel serial numbers and the "matching magazine" is missing it's suffix letter. I'd pass on this one.

Thanks Ed, good to know!
Don, which are your known trustworthy online dealers? Norm, good call... I think was blinded by this beauty that I didn't even notice the missing halos and magazine suffix. Must be all that white substance on the numbers distracting me, or maybe it's covering the halos? Not sure. |

sreisel has his followers. He started low, and there are people pumping it. So I am speechless -- collectors want to pay more to him.
This one: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/662061069 I sold a bunch of these average at a fraction, rarer than this one, not hot at all. And this particular one on gunbroker is old reblued, rebarrelled, etc. A very poor gun. Irrelevant though, its condition and rarity does not block it going $4625. Who's bidding on this.. having rich followers is a great thing.. |

Ah, yeah I don't feel like I can afford to compete with wealthy bid pumpers. This seemed like a good deal when it was around $1400! As Norme pointed out, I don't see halos, and missing suffix--That 2075 seems high for that.

Definitely a reblued gun. Not only no halo, even the muzzle is blued. The only hope being "this is field reblue done by German"... does that matter? Think it in a positive way after it comes though, that makes life easier. If serious about it, study it before it comes. Valued high, but it's not an extreme example. The extreme example was the link that I posted earlier on #6... need 70% to 80% off to be break even. If it's a single buy, buyer probably could absorb the loss, but if accumulate a bunch at this cost, it will be painful in future.

If it is not refinished it's a miracle.
What I mean is, that gun was never fired after the current finish was applied. And that does not happen with any P08. PS. Never trust that white goo over numbers and marks, they can mask shallow numbering due to refinish. |

So does Eisel, if you don't like it after you receive it- send it back for a refund. It does cost you shipping. So do pay attention to pictures and description. He is Not a luger expert. All JMHO. You can also do well to buy from one of the members on this board, good lugers show up here and are usually fairly priced.

A look around the toggle joints and other surfaces show buffer work, IMHO. A nice reblue, but a reblue, none the less.

You did the right thing. The new owner will be along here in a week or two wanting to know if he got a good deal...

Good job!!
Buying from forum members is very likely a safer bet... That's one disadvantage of living outside the US- importing a firearm is just too much of a hassle....but I enjoy checking out Gunbroker sometimes... |
