Nice marked ww1 holster
Back Manufacturer J.C. Weill
Original mark 1.U.R. 1916 (1st Ulanen Regiment) Front Under lid Reichwehr mark? 2./A.R.7.22 (2nd battery of artillery regiment #7 weapon 22) Outside lid 2.22. (2nd battery weapon 22.) Ink stamping inside lid unable to read except 3 B.... Bill

Ron sold me it's brother, rebuilt to take a P38 (!), a while ago. Same 1.U.R. marking, same maker. |

Incredablely clear unit markings. Wish more of them on the early holsters were that clear.

I question the 1 U.R. over 1916 markings on both holsters shown. I don't recall ever seeing a unit marking over a date and the die set looks too modern. TH

I'm still looking for a 1916 date P38 to go with it
Personally, I think the lettering is OK, this was the general typographical style of those days. But then again, none of us were there when these were marked. |

I also doubt two obviously authentic holsters located so far apart would have essentially identical fake stampings....
