Default 1920 commercial luger with unnumbered sideplate

I just recently picked up a 1920 commercial Luger with all matching numbers, except magazine of course. The sideplate has no number on it. I looked on the bottom and I don't see any evidence of one ever being stamped there. While the finish is worn a little more on the side plate its not so worn to make me think that its been replaced, nor has the gun been refinished.

Did it ever happen that the sideplate just missed being stamped or is this a replaced part?

It would help greatly if you could provide photos of your Luger, especially closeups. Mistakes happen but your sideplate should be numbered.

Could it be numbered along the lower edge?

It is not at all uncommon to have a 1920 Commercial Luger without a matching sideplate or one that is not numbered. To see if this sideplate works without the gun firing, HOLD the trigger back, Pull back the action, and release the action DOWN with the trigger still depressed. And pull the trigger (To see if the sear resets) after you let it up the trigger after the action comes down, the trigger should trip the striker, if the gun does not recock itsellf and trigger does not trip the striker the sideplate is mismatched and does not work. If the gun fires, it is a proper sideplate and or one that is not matched but fitted correctly.
