1917 movie
Anyone seen it? I'm all in at noon tomorrow and hope it comes close to all the hype. Should be good for a brief escape from reality...

It is a really good movie. The camerawork is the best part and needs to be seen in theaters. Enjoy the movie experience.

Just saw this movie today. I have to say it was very good. Now, I am a veteran, but of course I didn't serve in WWI.
Impossible for any of us to truly experience what the WWI soldiers had to experience. However, watching this film, I can say that I believe it accurately depicts the conditions of the trenches, and "no mans land" better than any other WWI film I've seen IMO. It also shows the brutality of war very well. I won't give away the story, but I will say many left the theatre with watery eyes including my wife and my father. Good movie, and well worth seeing IMHO. Matt |

Agreed, I saw it this afternoon and was really impressed with the cinematography. Certainly not a place I'd want to find myself in. As far as weaponry, the British rifle, Lee Enfield I believe, stole the show with virtually no German weapons, uniforms, etc, being well viewed. Couple of Webley revolvers, no 1911's or Lugers.

I saw it and it rates a 4 on a 10 scale. Not realistic at all.Rifles yes.No part of France had those nice green fields after 3 years of fighting.A pail of fresh milk out in the middle of nowhere, come on!

Yea, I'm not sure who milked the cow, but otherwise it was an excellent film - wife and I saw it today.

I saw the film a couple of months ago. Enjoyed it. However, I wouldn't rate it as one of the better war movies. Will revisit the film once it's on DVD.
