They're very smokey. I sincerely hope they aren't too close to the fires. My wife and I just got back from a two week trip through Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. With the exception of Utah, there was smoke everywhere, and in some places we could see the actual fires.

We have relatives and friends in Washington and everyone from Seattle to Idaho is talking about the thick smoke. On Facebook I see friends talking about the fires and smoke in Montana...

Here in Western Washington it has been very smokey. It limits visibility but gives us brilliant orange/red sunrises and sunsets. Tuesday morning my truck was covered with a thin layer of ash. I've been limiting my walks with my German Shorthair, as I don't think the smoke is good for either one of us.....
No danger for most areas, but the smoke is concerning from a health standpoint. |

In SE Idaho, it is like a fog every day. The smoke is coming from the western Montana fires near Missoula. Really bad forest management and grazing practices have led to a really good supply of burning material. It is really dry and we have have had little to no rain in July and August, but had huge snowpack from the winter so a lot of grass grew from that and a wet spring. This is a crazy year. The schools in the area have started keeping the kids indoors all day because of the poor air quality. It is very bad, but as you see, many in other parts of the country have it much worse. Thank you for your concern, though.

The haze has even made it's way as far south as Phoenix, which gives an idea of the magnitude of these fires.

Here's the Idaho fire map from about a week ago when we were heading north on our way to Glacier National Park
