Estate value for two lugers

I am attempting to assist a friend (the executor) in valuing several firearms for an estate. It is not decided whether the firearms will be sold for the estate but the heirs need a value estimate.

I would appreciate any helpful information anyone could provide from these pictures. I do not have immediate access to them so for instance I have not disassembled to check grip serial #s, or any internal markings etc.

Apologies for busy picture backgrounds as well, it was meant to give me pics for looking up markings but I got as far as I could on understanding
I will upload more of the pics directly but have to convert from heic to jpeg first sorry will get there.

The first seems to be undated commercial DWM.

I'm not confident that this one can be easily valued by just running an auction sale on Gunbroker.
It has a wood magazine plate, stock lugs.
Serial #s appears to be matching but haven't checked grips.
Has a holster marked 1915.
Chip in the grip near the safety.
The chambering is 7.65mm.
Serial # subscript 'L'.
Seems to me it has many similarities to this one for sale on gunbroker but its undated.

The two pistols have three magazines. One wood plate, one aluminum plate, one plastic plate. I'm not certain what belongs to what, but the wood seems to be appropriate to the DWM at least.

Chambering is 9mm.
I believe this one to be lower value, perhaps at $900-$1000 and if sold by auction website such as Gunbroker would value it appropriately.

Hoping to improve my advice for the estate with more input. I'm not a Luger owner, or looking to be (no offense intended, I just focus elsewhere).

And thank you for your time. I've already found the FAQ document and DWM database and other files here valuable in just trying to do my best alone for the family here.

I think you have correctly identified both pistols. The commercial is a fairly common variant. If you use the advanced search function on Gunbroker you can review past sales of similar pistols for a value assessment; I don't collect that variant. I do collect WWII era P 08s and think your value assessment reasonable.

Collectible Lugers remain in as close to factory state as possible. Original finish percentage, numbered matching parts and overall condition all contribute to value.

The wood based unnumbered magazine belongs with the DWM alphabet commercial .30 Luger pistol. If it's all matching (which you said it appears to be) and 90% original finish with the chipped grip I'd value it at around $1100 or so. It was made around 1923 and could be considered collectible, but has much less value than a military Luger.

The other Luger has a 42 date Mauser receiver and frame and was VoPo reworked, refinished and marked. The grips and possibly other parts were replaced at some point. it's strange to see a shaved off toggle.

Imports like this with markings sold for $600 a few years ago, but this is probably worth a little more as a shooter. I'd estimate one in this condition at $750 to $800.

The plastic base magazine with concentric rings is aftermarket and modern. I can't see enough of the other magazines.

The holster looks quite distressed so it's hard to value that.

" it's strange to see a shaved off toggle." I believe the rear toggle is a post war East German manufacture and was made that way.

The '67' stamp is there rotating portion of the slide/bolt. There is also an upside down 'GERMANY' in all caps, somewhat more modern looking font than the other stamps and is fairly lightly stamped so did not displace alot of metal. It is not straight and is also not centered.

The P08 is an East German rework, as Rich said the toggle is EG, and so are the markings.

Value as Marc says.

I agree on the commercial pistol and I think the P.08 is not in collectable condition, so it's worth about the same. The east Germans messed up a lot of lugers after the war and this one was probably one of them. The mess under the serial number is a good clue. (they usually did much worse overstepping).

Anyone notice the to the right of the sideplate marking on the 42? A Crown U and what?

Plus repro grips..

The holster! What's left of it. Do you have the top? As it is about $35-50 at least that is what I would pay. I am always looking for parts.
