As I am going through my collection for maintenance/rememberance of the end of the Great War, I remembered one of the first pieces I bought awhile back. It was sold advertised as a WW1 German officer’s sword. Based on the engraved motto of “In Treue Fest” I was able to gather that it’s Bavarian as well. However, from the looks of many of the other German swords I have seen since I bought this one, it gives me a bit of pause on what it actually is. The hilt, handle, and Pommel look rather bland compared to most of the others I have seen and there does not appear to be a makers mark on it anywhere that I can see. Materials seem to be correct for WW1 with the fishskin grips with copper or brass wiring around them. Some of the wood it is all wrapped around is exposed as well and looks that part of 100 years old too. If anyone can shed any information on it that would be most appreciated. Never forget all those who fell in the War to send all Wars and thank you too ALL veterans for your service to defend our freedoms and this great country.
