More Commercial survey

Will this project never end?

Due to a massive database graciously given to me by another collector, my own database is getting quite large. I still fully intend to publish it on the Forum with commentary, but I am looking for some additional information.

First off, the survey now extends through the end of the 5-digit serial# Commercial series. For these pistols I am looking for: the model e.g. P-08 Commercial, Commercial Navy, Commercial Artillery, Carbine, 1914 Commercial w/stock lug; 20 Commercial (formerly 23 Commercial); full serial# (no xx's); chamber date if it is there; whether or not there is a Commercial proof mark and if so whether it is "lazy" or upright; military proofs (3c/X, etc.) if present; Safe/Loaded safety and extractor if present; markings on the bottom of the magazine if original.

For 1906 Lugers I would like to know (in addition to all the other info) if the extractor is marked GELADEN or LOADED.

If anyone has 1900 or 1906 American Eagle, Commercial, or other commercial serial range Lugers they haven't yet reported, see http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthre...&threadid=3731 for the original call for info.

Hi,

Here's the data:
The gun is a two-part affair, thus providing means to cover two versions

Frame: 2850, marked on front.
Receiver and barrel: 11910 marked on barrel w. crown/N underneath it.
standing Crown-N and 10 on left side of the receiver, KOL on the right side.
Takedown-lever and sideplate marked '11' in commercial style (underneath).

Grips marked as discussed earlier. Both marked 2850. Left with C-type mark lying flat above it, Right with GS mark above it.

Sear bar also marked with GS on top (only visible after removal).

Brass side plate reads 'St. Inf. XI. 28'.

Hi Dwight.........I have the following 1906 Navy Commercial

Serial No. 51355 Type 1 unaltered
BUG Proofed
Underside of barrel is also BUG proofed.
9m/m
Mag bottom is marked "Germany"
This gun is listed in Costanzo's book Lugers issued to German Agents in the U.S.

Thanks very much for the info, I have the serial# from Costanzo's book but its good to get the other details. Does this gun have a GERMANY export mark?

Thanks much for the additional information. Costanzo's list has this Luger in the US in 1913. Its interesting that such a Luger would -not- be export marked.

Nope...it isn't.....only on the mag. bottom.
