Erfurt 1918 Barrel Question
A friend has an Erfurt 1918. The only marks on the barrrel are "Made In Germany", on the bottom, aligned along the axis.
I imagine this is a rebarreled Luger. Can anyone shed light on when, Who and where this was likely to have been done? |

Hi Steven,
It is definitly rebarreled. The original barrel was numbered to the gun and included the suffix it it had one, the bore gauge, firing proof, and acceptance stamp. The 'Made in Germany' export stamp was mandated in the early 30's I beleive. It was applied according to US law. Before that only 'Germany' was necessary. The stamp may be for the whole gun which was exported , but I suspect it is just the barrel. If it is for the barrel only, then it could have been changed at any time from 193? until now.
