What do you think?
Hello Everybody. This is my first post, so I apologize in advance if anything looks weird. I've recently inherited an Artillery Luger that my grandfather brought back from WWII as a relic. I was just wondering what you guys think about it's condition. I don't know much about Lugers or antiques in general, but I definately know an heirloom when I see one. The only parts of the rig that I have is just the Arty itself and one 8 rd mag. I have a holster, but it doesn't look like it is the original. The serial numbers all match, and the mag appears to be original because the wear pattern on the wood piece on the bottom matches the wear on the right side of the grip. I'm not interested in value for purposes of selling it, it's mainly for my own info. I have many pics of it (got to play w/ a professional digital camera) and as soon as I figure out how to put the links in a post, I'll do it if you guys would like to see some. Thanks for your input and it's nice to have found a place to find some info.

Hello Aaron,
Welcome ! If you want to send me your jpegs, I can size them for you (they need to be under 180KB size) and then I can post them in this discussion thread. My email is "pebbink@pacbell.net"... Glad to hear you will keep this Artillery in your family. But as soon as folks see your photos, do not be surprised by some folks making you an offer, usually through the Private Message feature of the Forum. Give folks a chance to see your photos and some will probably give you some "valuation" estimates as well. Value of any luger depends on condition, condition, condition, and also if all parts are factory original and of matching serial nubmers, if the wooden grips and magzine are original to the gun, and the % remaining of factory original blue and straw colors on parts of the gun. Most Arty's one sees these days are in the price range of $ 1200 to $ 2500. The more exotic, more rare models and ones in exceptional "factory, original mint" condition can go for $ 3000-6000...and higher... Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
